25 YEARS.. LOYAL GUESTS

“It must have been sometime in 2002 when I first walked into Mes Amis. I was on my own, looking for a table for one. What I remember most about that evening is the way Annaline welcomed me: so warmly, as if I had already been a regular for years. Before long, Mes Amis became a fixed part of my routine. For years, I ate there almost every Monday evening.”

A familiar favourite
“Lately, I visit a little less often because I frequently work evenings as a senior professor at the Maastricht Conservatory, but the restaurant has never disappeared from my life. I still love coming back for the atmosphere, the light cuisine and the beautiful Limburg wines.”

“What makes Mes Amis so special to me is in the details: the hospitality, the elegant service and the personal attention. You feel seen. And yes, even the tablecloths are part of it: they complete the picture. But perhaps most important of all are the many things that have happened there over the years.”

“There were deeply moving moments, such as the period when both Annaline and I lost our spouses. But there were also evenings filled with music, with performances by my singing students for which a piano was specially brought into the restaurant. And then there were the lighter, happier moments, like the time Annaline managed to get hold of a case of old Riesling. Between the two of us, over the course of several evenings, we drank almost the entire case.”

“What began with a warm welcome grew into a close friendship. The fact that Annaline and her partner came to Brussels this year for my surprise birthday party says it all.”
