“On 1 April 2005, we celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary at Mes Amis. Just the two of us, at our regular table by the window. It was a special evening on which we not only celebrated our wedding anniversary, but also the fact that after several years we were once again living in Maastricht. Why we first walked into Mes Amis a few years earlier, we honestly no longer remember exactly. Most likely, it was initially because of the beautiful listed building in the distinctive 17th century brick and sandstone style.”

The Feeling of Coming Home
“What we do know for certain is that we immediately felt this was a place we would love to keep returning to. Of course, the food is excellent and the Limburg wines are a celebration every single time, but a good restaurant is more than just good food. You want to feel welcome, to be seen, and to have the feeling that you are coming home. That is exactly what Annaline has managed to create all these years.”

“Even now, every time we walk along Tongersestraat, the beautiful building continues to make an impression on us. So much so, that Aldert built an identical miniature version of it with LEGO. This creation has been on display in the restaurant for several years now. On 25 June 2026, during the Evening with Annaline, we surprised her once again, this time with a 3D printed version of the building. It is now standing right beside it!”
